take a breather- join me

Alright! we all know the weekends are coming our way--some of us would fret it behind closed doors, some would get drunk and party with friends, some would spend it with their loving family and others would watch the night sky and simply sigh on and on. The weekends would perhaps be no different for me from now on...thus--- guys and gals- (striking out the age bar)--inviting you to:

Steal some of these from the nosy shopkeeper round the corner:

hey boys! I know you all are digging your hands inside your pockets- but yes- lets give the hackneyed neighbour a piece of our prank:

for once lets walk in a line over the haunted house wall (dare me)!!

and let's go on a joy ride- wanna try Ramdas and company's Rickshaw-(hussh we can still trick him- he is snoring through his towel :)-

The day is done with listening to the lonely widow's fantastic tales of unknown places:

And when I sleep off without notice- remember to, smile and blow a kiss :)

(Sometime or the other- we all wish to be kids once again- to surge off troubles in life- you might like or you might not even wish to join me in this journey backwards in time- never mind--as long as you flash a sweet grin--I know I made you feel better)

I don't own any of the above images by the way- Keep safe viewers, comment-ors and smiling faces.

To Uncle Pai

To,

Uncle Pai,

Back then I was too small to even think you made those picture books for me...

But the block books of Amar Chitra Katha- I got to flip through during sultry summers- were your creation.

Thanks to the two brothers who thought it to be wise enough to hand me down their comic series, it kept me occupied.Their Mother had done an excellent job by binding the thin comic books together so that about forty to fifty books turned into on TOME. They were brilliant educative bricks indeed- for me at least and sad heavy bundles for my parents- who would have to carry them for me!

Thus a young mother could get busy at kitchen well her tiny tot could take all the advantage of the pillows and the cushions and sprawl out on the floor, create a kiddish castle for herself and flip through the fantastic picture. and I made great friends with Gandhi, Birbal, Tanali Raman, Buddha--whooosh---long list- folks I guess I have read up all of them :P

Sorry to say--um I was too small to read the dialogue bubbles back then.

Sorry again- I did tear off the edges of few of the pages absent minded.
Sorry once more- I slept over them-- with drools running down at free will.
Sorry yet again- I was selfish and never shared the block binds with visiting play mates at evening.
Okay- once more sorry--I drew crawling spiders all over the pages!!
and yet again- how I would thump my chest like he man and king kong in  primary class, fight with the boys telling them -"I read fat books do you! huh! you are n't even strong enough silly boys!"

Since you would never complain (How come?!)

I would even learn to practice figure drawing by tracing out my favorite character--with each pencil out line and squeezing fingers--thick black borders would soon appear--- ouch what a torture on the paper!!

Sad enough-- none of them survived the years...

Google doodle and the wanderer salutes you :) rest in peace...

regards,
wanderer

Modern Love letters

Keeping the mood of the love cornered contest (check the contest page) here is a little intro to the blushing love hungry gals and the wanna be beaus :)

In my opinion writing a letter is an art. We all forget when we write that last letter.
The old system of letters in post is used by very few now.
I really hate that. Now a days if you receive one letter by post from a friend...
I hope it really means a lot.
Anyway here is one sample of Modern Love Letters in a New Style.

SAMPLE OF A MODERN LOVE LETTER...

Dearest Samantha,

I am very happy to inform you that I have fallen in love with you since Tuesday, the 20th of June 2009.

With reference to the meeting held between us on the 20th of June 2009 at 1500 hours, I would like to present myself as a prospective lover. Our love affair would be on probation for a period of no less than three months and depending on compatibility, would be made permanent. Of course, upon completion of probation, there will be continuous relationship training and relationship appraisal schemes leading up to promotion from lover to spouse. The expenses incurred for coffee and entertainment would initially be shared equally between us. Later, based on your performance, I might take up a larger share of the expenses. However I am broad-minded enough, to be taken care of, on your expense account. I request you to kindly respond within 30 days of receiving this letter, failing which, this offer would be canceled without further notice and I shall be considering someone else. I would be happy, if you could forward this letter to your sister, if you do not wish to take up this offer.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Yours sincerely, Max

MODERN REPLY TO MODERN LOVE LETTER...

Dear Max,

Please refer to your letter dated today. I am pleased to inform you that I hope to accept your proposal for romance. However, you should be informed that there are certain conditions of acceptance. Promotional prospects are to my satisfaction. However, please enlighten me as to your retirement benefits. Gratuity should be generous. I also need to be assured that there is sufficient security with regards to this commitment. If there is any chance at all of retrenchment or consequent disinterest on your part, then I should receive monetary compensation according to union standards.

Due to the nature of my position, I am sure you will agree that an expense account should be arranged for my access in light of the 'VIP'. I shall be entertaining. In addition, housing and transport allowances should be in order and nothing less than a Jaguar is in order.

Please also note that there should be no moonlighting restrictions placed on myself. If you are still interested in the relationship, please reply on an urgent basis as other prospective lovers have sent indications of interest.

Please also note that my sister is happily employed.

Yours perhaps, Samantha!

I hope you all are now efficiently trained in "How to write a letter"...
So be ready and make yourself to writing letters.

The above was shared by a friend of mine, courtesies to him.

since I am working on time in my other blog

The following is a excerpt from Shakespeare's "as you like it"--I would call it a pathetic love-fluffy play---me myself being far removed from love...at least thats what I have grown into...for those of you who don't know me this will be surprising, for those of you who claim to know me this is going to be double surprise, and those who are trying hard to know me this is going to be ten times a bolt from the blue sky...now I did rumble a lot, didn't I?

here is the part I want you to pay attention to: (Just in case you need a brief idea about this play click)

ORLANDO
Very well. What do you want?

ROSALIND
(as Ganymede) Please, what’s the hour?

ORLANDO
You should ask me what time of day it is, instead. There’s no clock here in the forest.

ROSALIND
Then there must be no lovers in the forest, either, because they’re as good as a clock, marking the lazy foot of time with a sigh every minute and a groan every hour.

ORLANDO
Why didn’t you say “the swift steps” of time instead of the “lazy foot”? Wouldn’t that have been just as appropriate?

ROSALIND
No, not at all, sir. Time travels at different speeds for different people. I can tell you who time strolls for, who it trots for, who it gallops for, and who it stops cold for.

ORLANDO
Okay, who does it trot for?

ROSALIND
Well, it trots for a young woman between the time she gets engaged and the time she marries: the time that’s passed may only be a week, but it always feels like seven years.

ORLANDO
Who does time amble for?

ROSALIND
For a priest who doesn’t know his Latin or a rich man who is free from the gout. The one sleeps easily because he isn’t up late studying and the other lives merrily because he’s free from pain. The first lacks the burden of intense, exhausting study, and the second is spared the burden of heavy, exhausting poverty. Time ambles for both men.

ORLANDO
Who does it gallop for?

ROSALIND
For a thief on his way to the gallows. Such a man walks as slowly as possible and, even so, gets there too soon.

ORLANDO
Who does it stand still for?

ROSALIND
For lawyers on vacation, because they sleep their holidays away, with no sense of how time moves.

strange feelings

"The nicer the man seems to be, the more suspicious you must become."--roald dahl

(I am wondering---is it same for a woman!!!)

now you say
I am your friend,

now you say
I am around,

now you say
I am too good...

I just smile
and fear
inward

some day
you might
get bored of
me
and stop saying
all of these
that make me smile.

Recipe of "Sweet Heart"

Romance is not on the cards, so keep your eyebrows in their place. I am not talking about love and all the blah, blah, blah, in this post.Yet I have learnt to make "Sweet Heart"-cookie munchers, addicts and stealer, keep out, for I am neither helping you by procuring heart shaped sweet delectable cookie filled jars from thin air.

Now, lets get into business, I am quiting from giving you all that initial rumbling...!

Easy to follow steps:

For this recipe you need two individuals, can be of any age but having young hearts in mandatory.

1) One person "a" should be made to wait for an hour at one place by person "b"; afternoon for evening is ideal.

Note: we are not making Indian tandoors out of poor souls, in this scorching month of either September or October, so avoid noon time.
Remember, the Indian monsoons are particularly getting erratic for the past few years-so if you are person "a", quit praying for a sudden shower relief.

2) Person "a" should walk about in circles, should wait without showing, anger, remorse or agitation. Should mediate under all weather conditions-promote the rise of promoters of Yoga.

3) Calculate the waiting time to be around one hour- person "a"should be well seasoned through the time period.

4)  Person "b" makes an entry, but no place to sit and start discussion.

5) Person "a" perhaps fuming within, person "b"- measuring words, apprehensive of sudden emotional outburst, the search for two vacant sitting places begins.

6) Finally person "a" and person"b" can rest their back and bottom,God Bless an off the route cafe.

7) Two beating hearts try to make, initiate some casual talk, yet the condition is still not under control, the AC, is perhaps not working!!

8)Coffee is ordered, coffee is served. Coffee with heart shaped made out of cream is looking up at person "a" and person"b".

9) Notice the perfect ice cubes three in number lined up, off the hot cup and along the saucer edge...these are vital inventories, you simply cannot overlook.

10) So long, person "b" was trying, failing, trying and failing to keep up... person "a" keeping close to the trait of jumping upon topics, at the same time concluding none...

11) And then the real cooking begins, like a bolt from blue, like a 1000 rupee note lying on the path, like chancing upon a glam girl or a handsome man in a crowded smelling Indian bus, idea strikes person "a".

12) Person "a", picks one of the three sugar cubes and pops it in the mouth- declaring an intensive affinity for all that is sweet and primarily drawing considerable bewilderment and attention of person "b".

13) the stage is set, the plate is laid...next comes the finale...person"a" picks the second sugar cube in waiting, plays with it and cautiously balances it about the heart shape floating on the brewing coffee settled in the table. Aiming right at its center, person "a" drops it with confidence. The cube floats, so does the so long fretting heart of person "b". The cube now semi submerged- the heart of person "b" melting already. Finally it disappears in thick coffee heart, person "b" is available to forget, forgive person "a" for all that initial waiting and is beaming with delight.

14) Mission of person "a" accomplished and there goes the real trick of creating "sweet heart" along with it.

My suggestion: Seems like a good idea to bright up those angry folks, just invite them for coffee and stock ice cubes in advance, it can be repeated anywhere..even at home, if the above settings are unavailable-it could include anyone-look about-start with horrible neighbors first!

Declaimer: "I have not seen this, but heard about this from a traveler bound to the road, who had in turn seen this little sight happen in a quiet inn, off the road. I did manage to ask the name of the creator of "sweet heart", but my friend was in a hurry  and just managed to mumble-"may be that was another "peculiar and eccentric" path finder like me."

Bengali men have to got through hard times

Indeed, Bengali boddyolak have a hard time...my brother just told me why...

To Chhoton, Bulbul, Khoka, Laltu, Gogol, Babu, Buro, Tutu, Bubu, Ghoton, Bhutan, Chhotka, Shanto, Bubai, Tubul . . . et al.
Here is an attempt to alert people to a great injustice that is being perpetrated upon the sons of Bengal.

When a son is born into a Bengali household, he is gifted with a resonant, sonorous name. Bengali names are wonderful things. They convey majesty and power.

A man with a name like Shushmito, Shamrat, Samudro, Rudro, Prokash, Indrojeet, Shurojit, Proshenjit,  Bishshodip, et cetera, is a man who will walk with his head held high, knowing that the world expects great deeds from him, which was why they bestowed the title that is his name upon him.

There are five rules for creating nicknames, which need to be followed. They are:
1.       Nicknames must have no connection to the real name. Orunabho cannot be called Orun. No, for that would be a logical, and such thing is anathema in the world of women. Instead he shall be called BHOMBOL. If possible, the nickname and real name must have no letters in common, but an ancient alphabet proves to be the constraining factor there.

2.       Nicknames must be humiliating to the power infinity.. If you are a tall strapping boy, with a flair for soccer, an easy charm and an endearing personality, then you shall be nicknamed - Khoka. And every time, you have set your sights on a girl, and are on the verge of having the aforementioned lass eat out of your hand - your mother will arrive and pronounce loudly - "Khokon, chalo". The ensuing sea of giggles will drown out whatever confidence you had earned from that last winning free-kick.

3.       A nickname must refer in some way to a suitably embarrassing incident in your childhood that you would give your arm and leg to forget. If it took you a little too long to shed your baby fat, then years of gymming will not rid you of the nomenclature Motka. If your face turned crimson when you cried as a toddler, you will be called Laltu. When you turn 40, your friends' children will call you Laltu Uncle. Even age will not earn you the right to be taken seriously thereafter.

4.       Different members of the family will make up different nicknames each more embarrassing than the preceding one. If one member of the family calls you Piklu, then another will call you Pocha, and another will call you Ghoton. The humiliation multiplies.

5.       You will always be introduced by your nickname until people forget you had a real name. Ranajoy might have taken on a gang of armed men single-handedly, but Tatai really didn't have a chance. After a point, Tatai will completely take over the beaten body of Ranajoy, weighed down by the pressure of a thousand taunts.

This strategy is surprisingly effective. Ask yourself - would you take Professor Boltu seriously? Or put much weight by the opinion of Dr Bubai? Or march into battle under the command of General Topa? The power of the nickname has scarred the psyche of Bengali men everywhere. It follows them like a monkey on their backs. That too, a monkey with a flair for slapstick, that was gifted to them by their own mothers, aunts and grandmothers.
